DAY 1

January 26 at VSU 9am to 4pm, 1hour lunch (maps)

Topics: The PT3 project, HILE Project timeline and activities, Introduction to VRML, 3D Modeling, Interactive Learning Environments, and Technology Integration Model

9-10am Introduction to Project
10-12am Introduction to VRML
12-1am Lunch
1-2am Technology Integration Model for Developing the learning activities 
3-4am Next Week's Online session 
Expected Outcomes: 
  • Awareness of VRML and its educational applications. 
  • Knowledge of technology integration model and formatting for learning activities. 
  • Knowledge of resources to further investigate VRML modules for learning activities. 
  • Communication channels established. 
  • All teachers will have identified specific content to deliver via VRML or related technologies. 
  • All teachers will have identified specific VRML modules for l

DAY 2

February 2

Format: Online training session. 

Topics:
  • Teachers will describe the content they will deliver. 
  • Teachers will describe the VRML modules the will use. (It is anticipated that not all teachers will have all content and all VRML modules identified at this time.) 
  • Teachers will work on the development of the learning activities. 
  • Location: Online via WebCT
Expected Outcomes: 
  • Explain content knowledge to be learned. 
  • Explain QCC learning standards to be met. 
  • Identify VRML modules to be used. 
  • Describe an outline of the learning activities in terms of the integration model. 
  • Develop student assessments for the activities

DAY 3

February 9 at VSU 

All teachers will have collected ideas for learning activities and/or attempted to draft a learning activity using VRML or related technologies. 

Format: Live training session.

Location: VSU campus 

Topics: 
  • Search strategies. 
  • VRML and teaching and learning.
Expected Outcomes: 
  • Apply learning activity design effectively. 
  • Apply critique or learning activities. 
  • Improve learning activities. 
9-10am Individual reporting from participants
  • VRML/technology resources located
  • classroom use ideas
  • barriers and issues of use
10-11am Hands-on. Search Strategies. How to find the most appropriate sites for your topic.
11-12pm Individualized/Group work.  We will break into 3 groups.
  • people needing assistance finding relative VRML sites
  • people working on linking VRML to teaching and learning
  • people ready to develop learning activities

 

12-1am Lunch on your own
1-2pm Continue Individualized/Group work
2-4pm Draft learning a learning activity with the model

DAY 4

March 9 at VSU 

All teachers will have drafted a learning activity. 

Format: Live

Topics: 
  • Present learning activities. 
  • Discuss design, development, implementation, and evaluation issues. 
  • Activities could be placed online and then discussed?
Expected Outcomes: 
  • Evaluation of design and development process. 
  • Preparation for implementation. 
  • Set dates/times/locations for implementation and evaluation.
Agenda:

DAY 5  

Between March 10 and May 4 

All teachers will implement their learning activities. 

Evaluation of implementation and student learning will take place. 

All teachers will provide feedback about the implementation.  

Format: Online 

Topics: 
  • How well did the technology work? 
  • Were students motivated to learn? 
  • Did the students learn the content?
Expected Outcomes:
  • Evaluation of implementation, teaching, and student learning. 
  • Utilize data and information to redevelop future training sessions and learning activity development processes. 
  • Apply knowledge gained through this process to develop more learning activities.
All teachers will repeat steps to create 2 more learning activities (or train 2 other teachers who create a learning activity using VRML technology).
